MaxiPLUS5 with NFC, Cep-T Cüzdan mobile wallet and shopping app

July ’12; The MaxiPLUS5 is Turkcell’s fourth phone with Cep-T Cüzdan and comes with an NFC tag in the box. The tag is embedded in a “refrigerator magnet”. Tapping the tag opens an online shopping app (subscribe first) on the Maxiplus5. At start, you can shop at four merchants. Burger King, Migros supermarket, Aygaz and Pursu are participating. How and what is different for each merchant.

NFC road toll payment application

feb ’12; “Turkcell launched the world’s first SIM-based, NFC road toll payment application on its own branded smartphone T11, in collaboration with Bank Asya. Currently only applicable on Turkcell’s T11, the system eliminates the need for plastic transmission cards ( KGS ) when crossing bridges and freeway turnpikes. Turkcell subscribers with a T11 can easily request a Bank Asya KGS application and upload cash through the Cep-T Cüzdan (mobile wallet) application on their mobile phones without having to physically visit a bank or payment point at the turnpikes.” (source; PDF from Turkcell)

Contactless payments in Eskisehir

Ingenico announced a new card payment system for public transportation with MasterCard M/Chip Advance in Turkey. The Esparacard project, has been implemented in Eskisehir.
Ingenico supplied the hardware and software payment solutions of the new ticketing system. All ticketing agents on buses and tramways will use Ingenico’s POS terminals, certified MasterCard M/Chip Advance, to accommodate contactless card payments.

The Esparacard is a pre-paid card with both contact and contactless features, and is also part of MasterCard M/Chip Advance worldwide’s new payment platform used in transportation.
It is integrated with the banking infrastructure to allow the use of credit cards from all banks.The ticketing system allows the use of the money loaded on the Esparacard, also at other merchants who accept MasterCard.
I found no info about the use of NFC enabled mobile phones.

Turkcell Cep-T Cüzdan mobile wallet

Turkcell, the Turkish largest mobile network operator, has signed up a second bank for its NFC payments service. The Turkcell Cep-T Cüzdan NFC based mobile wallet service is since may 2011 available for Yapi Kredi Bank customers. Now holders of Akbank‘s Axess card will be able to use their NFC enabled handsets for contactless payments.
Customers, having a handset with NFC, and Turkcell SIMPlus 256 SIM-card, have to download the Mobile Wallet application.
Update feb.2012; Turkcell’s Cep-T Cüzdan mobile NFC enabled wallet is now being offered by three banks: Yapı Kredi, Akbank and Garanti, available on Turkcell’s T20, T11 and BlackBerry Bold 9900 handsets.
Update April; Denizbank has joined Turkcell Cep-T Cuzdan Platform.

The power of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 combined with the Turkcell Cep-T Cüzdan application enables Turkcell customers to enjoy making payments in a simple, easy, safe and convenient way by simply tapping their NFC-enabled BlackBerry Bold 9900 against a MasterCard PayPass™ reader in shops, retail outlets, cafes and restaurants across Turkey. In addition, Turkcell customers travelling abroad will also be able make payments in the same way .
