Nokia Lumia 920 with NFC

Nokia Lumia 920 with NFC

Nokia Lumia 920 nfc enabled windows 8 handset
The NFC enabled Lumia 920, Nokia’s new flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Nothing about NFC in the press-release now. In June at the Windows Phone Developer Summit, Microsoft said, the mobile wallet will come pre-installed on every Windows Phone 8 handset.
And if the carrier doesn’t support the SIM-based contactless payment app, customers can use the other NFC features (read tags and P2P transfer).
The Nokia Lumia 8xx and 920 supports also the Mifare classic tags, but it must be NDEF formatted first (buy formatted tags or use another phone with an nfc writing app). No pre-installed nfc writing app on the first Windows 8 Phones.
You can scan a tag while a windows phone is locked, as long as you see the locked screen display (Android and BlackBerry phones need to be unlocked to tap).
NFC is enabled by default. To turn on or of, look for “tap + send” in the settings (Share photos, websites, contacts and more, or pair your phone by tapping against another NFC-capable device).
The NFC antenna is on the back of the phone, around the camera.

– PureMotion 4,5 inch WXGA (1,280 x 768) HD+ display, “the world’s brightest, fastest and most sensitive touchscreen”
– PureView; “Floating Touch” from Sony, “floating mass” from LG, Nokia has his floating lens technology. “The camera in the Nokia Lumia 920 is able to take in five times more light than competing smartphones without using flash, making it possible to capture clear, bright pictures and video indoors and at night.”
Nokia views imaging as a core area for differentiation in the smartphone space. The Carl Zeiss lens with the Optical Image Stabilisation, captures blur-free videos even if the camera’s shaking or in low light. PureView stands for “professional-looking results”.
– Integrated wireless charging, based on the Qi standard, just buy a wireless charger.
– With Nokia Music you can stream and download unlimited music for free.
City Lens augmented reality app; By pointing the camera at a city street, City Lens overlays names and info about restaurants, shops, hotels and more on the surfaces of buildings, all at your camera’s viewfinder. City Lens also enhances Nokia Maps, it’s possible to move between maps view and augmented reality view.
With enhancements to Nokia Drive and Nokia Transport, “the Nokia location suite of services represents the most comprehensive, integrated mapping experience of any smartphone.”

Available in pentaband LTE and HSPA+ variants.
Nokia will announce pricing and specific roll-out dates country by country when sales are due to begin.

update nov.’12;

The reviews, Pro’s and Con’s;

+ Very good camera
+ Beautiful screen
+ City Lens, Nokia Maps and GPS apps
– The criticism is the size and weight (heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Note II phablet).
– NFC sharing could be easier
Don’t forget, no NFC contactless payments without support from your carrier and/or bank, but this also applies to other phones with nfc chip.
